Michael Fruchtman

Michael Fruchtman (CS undergrad student) conducted a study aimed at using existing commercial software magnification products (i.e. Zoomtext, Magic, Lunar and the Windows 7 magnifier) with the Note-Taker. His work demonstrated that none of these products was useful for taking handwritten notes or for copying diagrams on Tablet PCs when magnification was enabled. This finding motivated the project team to explore alternative strategies, which ultimately resulted in the inclusion of a “snapshot” feature that allows the student to extract frames from the zoomed-in video for incorporation into their notes.
